What are RSS Newsfeeds... and How Do I Use Them?

RSS is a type of file that allows websites to share headlines and summaries of recent posts. An RSS newsfeed is basically a list of titles and links to webpages. A user can plug the RSS feed's location into a newsfeed reader program once, and the reader will automatically display links to updated content to the webpage! Sites such as "My Yahoo" or "Google News" use RSS Newsfeeds to display headlines and weather updates. Every category on the Food First website has a newsfeed, which summarizes the most recent pages added to the section.

For example, if you want to keep on top of Food First Action Alerts then you could paste the Action Alert feed URL into your RSS reader. When we post a new Action Alert, your reader will automatically display a link to the new page!

To a category's newsfeed, find the box called "Headlines" in the lower right-hand corner. Right-click (windows/linux) or Ctrl-right-click (Macintosh) on the icon. Choose "copy link location", and then paste the location into your RSS program!
